Pure Nitrogen Manufacturing Plant: When feed air enters the system, at a specific operating pressure, the porous structure of CMS induces a pronounced kinetic effect: Oxygen and nitrogen molecules exhibit significant differences in their diffusion rates within the CMS pores. Due to oxygen's stronger adsorption affinity and faster diffusion into the molecular sieve channels, it is rapidly and extensively trapped by the CMS. In contrast, nitrogen molecules-with slower diffusion and weaker interaction with CMS-remain concentrated in the gas phase. This process achieves efficient separation of oxygen and nitrogen.
The adsorption capacity of CMS for oxygen is highly pressure - dependent. When the pressure is reduced (either through depressurization or vacuum application), the oxygen molecules previously adsorbed by the CMS are released (a process called desorption). This restores the CMS's adsorption capability, allowing it to be reused in subsequent cycles. The reversible nature of this pressure - sensitive adsorption/desorption process enables continuous operation without frequent replacement of the adsorbent.
