The distributed control system of this oxygen separation plant is responsible for the regular monitoring and regulation throughout the entire process.

The safety instrument system is independently set up to perform safety interlock protection such as emergency stop.

This oxygen separation plant is equipped with main cooling explosion-proof technology. The core safety measures include continuous monitoring and control of the hydrocarbon content in the liquid oxygen of the main condenser evaporator, ensuring the continuous circulation and regular discharge of liquid oxygen, and the use of highly sensitive online analyzers.

The entire separation process is carried out within a double-layer structure known as the "upper tower" and "lower tower". The principle is as follows:

Lower tower (initial separation): The purified and compressed air enters the bottom of the lower tower. Due to the lower boiling point and easier gasification of nitrogen, the concentration of nitrogen in the ascending process will gradually increase, and high-purity gaseous nitrogen is obtained at the top of the tower; while the oxygen-rich liquid gathers at the bottom of the tower, forming oxygen-rich liquid air.

Top tower (final separation): The oxygen-rich liquid air from the lower tower is sent to the top tower for further distillation. Here, the oxygen with a higher boiling point will accumulate at the bottom of the tower, resulting in high-purity oxygen; while the nitrogen with a lower boiling point will rise to the top of the tower.

In simple terms, this technology makes use of the different boiling points of various components in the air (nitrogen, argon, oxygen), and through a single process within the same distillation tower, it can simultaneously produce high-purity oxygen and nitrogen. If the previously discussed argon production technology is regarded as "installing a distillation tower to extract by-products", then simultaneously producing oxygen and nitrogen is the fundamental skill of this technology.
